Amorim Cork Italy

Italian subsidiary of the Amorim Group, is confirmed year after year as a leader in the cork closures market, thanks to the cutting-edge of its production and management systems, with special credit to the R&D department

, which operates with a marked sensitivity to environmental protection and in particular to the preservation of cork forests. Precisely because cork is a raw material that is too valuable to be wasted, the Amorim Group has always strived to recover production waste by inventing new solutions and applications. In 2008, it inaugurated the world’s first company in Portugal to recycle cork stoppers, making it possible to obtain from the reprocessed product material for other uses such as construction, insulation, clothing, mechanics and aerospace. In Italy, Amorim Cork has created Italy’s most virtuous circle of eco-sustainability and solidarity with the ETICO initiative, a cork cork cork collection and recycling project conceived in 2010. For every ton of corks that, instead of ending up in the trash, is recycled, the non-profit organizations that join the project and collect them receive a contribution, partly derived from the sale of the corks to the companies that reduce them to grain, and partly as a spontaneous gift from Amorim Cork Italia. So far, the proceeds from this operation have brought the nonprofit more than 150,000 euros in total contributions and more than 350,000,000 tons of recovered caps have been surpassed. The initiative has led to the creation of Ethical Corkgran, a functional grain for the world of green building, made of 100% natural cork, which guarantees durability and maintenance of thermal performance, ideal for energy upgrading interventions.
